Job Summary

The College of Sciences and Mathematics at Auburn University is seeking a highly skilled professional to serve as a Manager of Research Program Development and Grants in our Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies Office.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to support faculty in securing external funding for groundbreaking research initiatives. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in promoting, identifying, and managing externally funded grants and contracts for the College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop competitive grant proposals to foundations, state, and federal funding agencies.
  • Oversee and assist with writing, editing, and proofreading text of contracts and grants, ensuring compliance with institutional and sponsor policies.
  • Provide support for Principal Investigators (PIs) with large research portfolios, including spending plan and projections, effort management, effort certification, and current and pending reporting.
  • Lead new contract and grant award kick-off meetings with PI, Department, Staff, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and reduce administrative burden.
  • Develop educational and informative workshops, classes, materials, and professional development for research administration staff and PIs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as science, mathematics, accounting, business, communications, or English, plus 5 years of experience in developing research opportunities, grant preparation, and grant accounting.
  • Knowledge of the nature of research at the university level, including assessment and evaluations, work plan development, and budget development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
