Research and Programme Coordinator Opportunity

The University of Birmingham is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research and Programme Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a research evaluation project that aims to support care experienced young people to progress from school through to higher education.

About the Project

The project is funded by the Inner Circle Education Trust and is being conducted by Professor Chris Millward and Professor Ian McGimpsey of the University of Birmingham, Patricia Ambrose of the National Network for the Education of Care Leavers (NNECL), and Dr Claire Crawford of the University of Cambridge. The project aims to gather qualitative insights from the two cohorts of learners involved in the programme and conduct analysis of data relating to the learners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop positive working relations with the project team and partners in the participating local authority and funder.
  • Implement secure and trusted modes of engagement with the care experienced young people involved in the programme.
  • Implement project procedures including monitoring progress, assessing and mitigating risks, and reporting.
  • Conduct desk-based review of research in the field.
  • Support the design and conduct of surveys of CEYP involved in the programme.
  • Support the design and conduct of data analysis relating to CEYP involved in the programme, including work associated with accessing information from national sources.
  • Work with the project team to write up findings.
Supervision and Support

The project will be supervised by Professor Ian McGimpsey and Dr Claire Crawford. The research grant pays for a maintenance stipend plus part-time tuition fees for up to 6 years.
