NHS Ayrshire and Arran is a leading healthcare provider in Scotland, committed to delivering high-quality patient care. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Clinical Pharmacist to join our team.

Job Description

As a Primary Care Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of safe, clinically effective, and cost-effective prescribing practices within our community. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing clinical audit and patient-facing medication reviews to promote high-quality prescribing practices and support the Prescription for Excellence agenda.
  • Offering expert advice on prescribing and medicines use in various therapeutic areas and clinical settings to GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Providing guidance to patients and carers on medicines-related issues or treatment of minor ailments, and signposting them to other healthcare professionals when necessary.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating processes to ensure successful implementation of NHS Ayrshire & Arran prescribing strategies and policies.

Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in areas such as chronic disease management and polypharmacy medication reviews, and work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team to deliver excellent patient care.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain, with evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Vocational training (Level 2) or equivalent training experience.
  • Relevant pharmacy experience, preferably in primary care.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in clinical pharmacy knowledge, skills, clinical reasoning, and judgment.
  • Advanced arithmetic skills and proficiency in computer software.
  • A good understanding of relevant standards and guidelines.
Working Hours and Location

This full-time role requires 37 hours of work per week, but we offer flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance. You must also hold a valid driving license and have access to a car for work-related purposes.

Estimated Salary: £45,510 - £63,130 per annum
