Dietitian - Care Home Professional Support Specialist

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to a culture that is Caring, Safe, and Respectful. We are seeking a Dietitian to provide care homes with the necessary Dietetic support to improve knowledge and contribute to the wellbeing of residents living in care homes.
As a Dietitian, you will work collaboratively in a safe, caring, and respectful way, providing professional leadership, expert advice, and best practice guidance and support for care home staff. You must have excellent communication skills and evidence of continued professional development in a related role for a minimum of 3 years.
You will be required to work autonomously and with professional discretion to prioritise and determine the daily co-ordination of activities. You will be encouraged to maintain clinical skills one day a week in a community or hospital setting and will be assigned a relevant senior colleague for mentorship.
Please note that this post covers Care Homes across the Ayrshire and Arran region and travelling will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care homes with the necessary Dietetic support to improve knowledge and contribute to the wellbeing of residents living in care homes.
- Work collaboratively in a safe, caring, and respectful way, providing professional leadership, expert advice, and best practice guidance and support for care home staff.
- Work autonomously and with professional discretion to prioritise and determine the daily co-ordination of activities.
- Maintain clinical skills one day a week in a community or hospital setting.
Requirements:
- Degree in AHP discipline (Dietetics, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Speech & Language Therapy)
- State registration with HCPC
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Evidence of working across a range of specialities including complex care, older people, and community rehabilitation
- Evidence of additional experience at post graduate equivalent level relevant to job purpose
Working Hours:
37 hours per week - part time hours will be considered (please specify)
Fixed Term/Secondment:
Please note that this job is a fixed term/secondment until March 2025
