About the Role

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is seeking an IT Service Manager to join their team on a 5-month contract. As an IT Service Manager, you will be responsible for managing the IT service delivery team, ensuring that all IT services are delivered to the required quality and within the agreed-upon timeframe.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of cloud-based technologies, IT Service Management/ITIL, and data analysis. They will also have experience working in Agile Delivery and possess an ITIL v4 Foundation certificate. Additionally, they will have training in one or more of the following ITIL v4 Practices: Monitoring and Event Management (MEM), Service Desk (SD), Continual Improvement (CI), Service Level Management (SLM), Service Configuration Management (SCM), Change Enablement (CE), Release Management (RM), and Relationship Management (RSM).

The role requires SC Clearance, which is an essential requirement. The successful candidate must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.

Key Responsibilities

The IT Service Manager will be responsible for the following key areas:

Improving Problem and Event Management processes through 'problem analysis' and investigation into 'process effectiveness.'
Developing options for a future-proofed Foundry IT Service Management operating model.
Providing support for IT services, including assisting in the resolution of live service events and problems, representing the IT Service Management team as an escalation point into business stakeholders for dependency services, and providing support on occasions or providing back-up support for orphaned services.
Improving transparency of reporting and dependency, including supporting work to enhance reporting of service management compliance, service level objectives, and performance metrics, and working across multiple services to enhance understanding of the performance, availability, and reliability of dependency services.
Improving stakeholder engagement and coordination associated with practice and process compliance, including supporting work to implement new processes and engage a broad group of stakeholders within the Digital Foundry and its partners.
Improving information coordination and communication within the Foundry and across broader defence, including supporting activities working with Change Advisory Boards (CAB) to assist in providing a coordinated information flow, using change processes and tools, and enabling processes to ensure technical changes to IT services are assessed for impact, prioritised, scheduled, notified, and authorised prior to implementation.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following requirements:

SC Clearance, which is an essential requirement.
A good understanding of cloud-based technologies.
IT Service Management/ITIL understanding.
Data analysis - working knowledge.
Experience working in Agile Delivery.
ITIL v4 Foundation certificate, and some training in one or more of the following ITIL v4 Practices: Monitoring and Event Management (MEM), Service Desk (SD), Continual Improvement (CI), Service Level Management (SLM), Service Configuration Management (SCM), Change Enablement (CE), Release Management (RM), and Relationship Management (RSM).

Working Arrangements

The role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas. The successful candidate will be required to work from the MOD site in Corsham, with occasional travel to other MOD sites.

Please be aware that this role falls in scope of the Off Payroll Working in the Public Sector legislation. Any rates of payment quoted will reflect the gross rate per day for the assignment and will be subject to appropriate taxes and statutory costs. As such, the payment to the intermediary and your income resulting from this contract will be different.
