Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service and maximise sales and profit
  • Assist and support the Store Manager in all aspects of the business
  • Control and operate a Winemark store in the Store Manager's absence
  • Staff training and development, motivating and encouraging the team to attain sales targets
  • Stock management, ensuring staff adhere to all Company instructions and policies
  • Administration, investigating cash and stock discrepancies, payroll and marketing
  • Customer relations, maintaining excellent customer service and up-to-date knowledge of store products
  • Identifying selling opportunities and acting on them
  • Housekeeping standards, ensuring the premises are safe and secure
  • Compliance with Company regulations, cash handling and administration
  • Health and safety information and licensing and trading standards legislation

Qualifications

Essential

  • Maths and English GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent
  • 1 year previous supervisory experience in a retail or customer-focused environment

Desirable

  • NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Customer Service or Retail Operations or equivalent
  • WSET Level 1 Wine Certificate; Level 2 also preferred

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a retail environment
  • Problem-solving, working on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Leadership qualities, potential to lead a team and set a positive example
  • Consistent performance under pressure, willing to take on extra responsibility
  • Previous experience of an EPOS system and cash handling
  • Stock handling and control, communication skills and customer focus
  • Ability to actively sell to customers, personal drive and a pleasant attitude
  • Excellent standard of dress and appearance, a valid driving license and access to a car

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an off-licence environment
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role
  • Interest and/or knowledge of wine
