Family Liaison and Support Officer

We are seeking an experienced Family Liaison Officer to join our vibrant pastoral and safeguarding team at Long Term Teachers Ltd. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in maintaining strong relationships with families, supporting the designated safeguarding lead, and providing additional support where needed.
Job SummaryThis is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced liaison officer to work in a unique provision situated near the Forest of Dean. You will be working with a school that supports approximately 150 pupils aged 2-19, all with complex needs, including PMLD, SLD, and MALD, with EHCPs.
Main Responsibilities- To act as a link between the school and home, working closely with professionals to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- To manage a caseload and maintain accurate records of conversations, telephone calls, meetings, and actions undertaken.
- To develop and maintain excellent relationships with families, providing one-to-one and group support as needed.
- To proactively provide information, guidance, and signposting about local agencies, services, and organisations to parents, carers, and school staff.
- To support families in completing forms, such as transport applications, DLA, and free school meals.
- To attend, convene, or support the coordination of relevant multi-agency meetings, including setting agendas, organising invitations, taking minutes, and drawing up action plans.
- To attend meetings as necessary and feedback to the Senior Leadership Team and other professionals as appropriate.
We are looking for someone who is dedicated, conscientious, and caring, with the ability to use initiative but also enjoy being part of a team. You must have at least 2 years' experience within the field, along with a strong understanding of specialist education.
Requirements- NNEB, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification (or commenced studying for the above).
- Experience of working with children and families.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Experience of working with multi-agency professionals.
- Ability to prioritise, plan, and organise your own workload and work on your own initiative.
- ICT literate and able to log your own actions.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to deal calmly with challenging situations.
The salary for this role is £32,000 - £36,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including professional development opportunities and a supportive working environment.
