About the Role

At WHSmith, we're committed to creating an environment where our Commercial team can thrive. As a Commercial Strategy Lead, you'll drive the commercial performance of your category across all our formats.

This role involves managing a category with scale and complexity, requiring previous relevant commercial experience. You'll be the key decision maker with autonomy to deliver your category strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and track against key commercial KPIs of sales and profitability
  • Curate the optimum assortment for our customers, aligning with commercial targets
  • Generate a continuous pipeline of value-creating initiatives to drive sales and profitability
  • Develop and maintain a category and trade plan aligned with the overarching business plan
  • Negotiate with and manage the supplier base, including a clear supplier strategy and ongoing maintenance/improvement of terms
  • Define pricing and promotional strategy for the category
  • Source and develop products in line with strategy
  • Deliver projects and trials within your area, engaging with cross-functional teams
  • Contribute to annual budget building
