Job Title: Employee Relations Advisor

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to provide first-line Human Resources advice and support to our employees and managers, ensuring compliance with our policies and procedures and good employment practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide guidance to managers on managing short-term and long-term sickness absence, including termination hearings.
  2. Communicate complex/sensitive information related to ill health retirement and redeployment processes.
  3. Use ESR sickness data to manage short and long-term sickness cases, providing information to staff and managers.
  4. Identify potential hot spot areas of concern and work with the HR Business Partnering team to implement interventions.
  5. Interpret and advise managers on Trust policies to ensure compliance.
  6. Take a leading HR role on Flexible Working applications and appeals.
  7. Regularly run reports from ESR on flexible working requests and identify areas for improvement.
  8. Provide advice and support to managers and staff on employee relations matters, including DBS, Professional Registration, and conduct issues.
  9. Support managers to undertake successful informal resolution meetings.
  10. Collate Freedom of Information (FOI) requests for information and liaise with directorate managers as required.
  11. Run reports and analyse complex data to identify potential interventions and improvements.
  12. Submit monthly reports to the payroll liaison team with details of open-ended long-term sickness cases.
Essential Experience:
  1. Experience working as an employee relations advisor in an NHS Trust.
  2. Experience working on a band 5 level.
  3. Dealing with long-term sickness, redundancy, and dismissal cases.
  4. Understanding the current financial restraints in the NHS.
  5. Experience using e-DBS.

  1. Excellent communication skills, both over the phone, via email, and face-to-face.
