We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Care Consultant to join our progressive team of intensivists and allied professionals at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will have a special interest in Intensive Care Medicine and an associated speciality in Anaesthetics, Emergency Medicine, or any other compatible Medical base specialty.
Main Duties of the JobThe Critical Care Consultant will be responsible for providing a high standard of care to patients referred to them and cared for by them personally or by members of their team.
They will participate in clinical and other service activities and developments with the aim of ensuring a high standard of patient care across the Trust.
The Consultant will work in close co-operation with other medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare to the Trust's patients and make a contribution to future thinking about the Trust's strategic direction.
Person SpecificationEssential Criteria
- MB BS (or equivalent)
- Registered with GMC
- On the specialist register, or within 6 months of acquiring CCT
- Must have completed intermediate or Step 1 training in ICM or equivalent and eligible for Associate Fellowship FICM
Desirable Criteria
- FRCA or equivalent, or a second registered specialty to complement the Trust's requirements
- CCT in ICM as described by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (or evidence of equivalent levels of experience/training)
- FFICM examination or other higher professional qualification
- ALS/APLS/ATLS or NLS provider or instructor
Essential Criteria
- An understanding of general principles, scientific method, and interpretation of literature
Desirable Criteria
- Evidence of personal research projects and their presentation
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Completed the audit loop in a number of audits
Personal Skills
- Evidence of good communication skills
Management
- Evidence of organisational ability
