Main Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Obstetrician to join our team at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with complex obstetric and gynaecological needs, with a particular focus on Fetal Medicine.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in Fetal Medicine and a commitment to general obstetrics and gynaecology. They will be expected to work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients, including those with complex termination of pregnancy and bereavement services.

Key aspects of the role include:

Providing specialist care to patients with complex obstetric and gynaecological needs

Working closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients

Contributing to the development and implementation of our Quality and Safety strategy

Participating in the expansion of our consultant team to increase our specialist services

Service Provision:

Our obstetric services are primarily based at the Tunbridge Wells hospital, with Birth Centres adjacent to Maidstone Hospital and in Crowborough. We deliver approximately 6000 babies annually across the three units. Gynaecology inpatients and most emergencies are managed at Tunbridge Wells Hospital, supplemented by an early pregnancy service. We also offer a day-case service at Maidstone hospital, with outpatient services available at both locations.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be a qualified Consultant Obstetrician with a strong interest in Fetal Medicine and a commitment to general obstetrics and gynaecology. They will be expected to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. A strong understanding of our Quality and Safety strategy and the ability to contribute to its development and implementation are also essential.
