Job Description: Medical Secretary

This exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Medical Secretary within our Specialist Medicine Clinical Administration Unit at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.


The successful candidate will possess exceptional secretarial skills, knowledge of all Microsoft packages, excellent communication and organisational skills, and be able to demonstrate flexibility when working in a busy and pressured environment.


If you are self-motivated, a team player with the ability to prioritise a busy workload, meet deadlines, and have a flexible approach to duties, this could be the role for you.


You will have the opportunity to work in a supportive, friendly working environment with a diverse team of staff.


Main Responsibilities:



  • To work as part of a team to ensure the smooth running of the Clinical Administration Unit.
  • To provide administrative support to medical staff, ensuring that their needs are met efficiently and effectively.
  • To maintain accurate records and documentation, including patient information and medical correspondence.
  • To communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and other healthcare professionals.


Person Specification

Essential Qualifications:



  • Good standard of general education (to GCSE/A level) or equivalent experience.

Desirable Qualifications:



  • Secretarial and audio-wordprocessing qualification to at least RSA3/advanced level certificate.

Essential Experience/Knowledge:



  • Previous secretarial experience.
  • Customer service/dealing with the public.

Desirable Experience/Knowledge:



  • Medical terminology / Healthcare experience.
  • Knowledge of Allscripts / ERS.


Salary: £24,907 per annum
