Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and efficient Medical Secretary to provide administrative support to our GP's and health professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for typing letters, reports, and patient referrals in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an efficient medical secretary service for GP's and health professionals as required.
  • Create and send referrals as directed by the clinicians, effectively and promptly, using the appropriate templates and procedures.
  • Maintenance of the e-referral advice and guidance work list.
  • Book hospital appointments for referrals as required.
  • Liaise with hospital services in relation to GP and patient enquiries.
  • Checking the generic email address.
  • Establish and maintain filing and administrative systems.
  • Receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls.
  • Maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
  • Assist in training and development of new team members.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Good standard of general education including GCSE English and Maths Grade C and above (or equivalent level of qualification).
  • Excellent keyboard/IT skills.
  • Good spelling and grammar.

Desirable

  • 12 months experience in this role.
  • Knowledge of Emis Clinical System.
  • Experience of working in a GP Practice.
