Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Secretary to join our Ophthalmology department at Northampton General Hospital. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to our consultants and medical staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our services.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide secretarial support to consultants, including typing of clinical letters, discharge summaries, and reports.
- Manage diaries, schedule appointments, and communicate with other departments as necessary.
- Deal with patient inquiries, resolve problems, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Accurately maintain patient records, including updating case notes and filing correspondence.
- Use computerized patient management systems to record personal confidential data and manage waiting lists.

Person Specification
- GCSE English and Maths
- Accurate keyboard skills to RSA 2 or equivalent
- Experience of prioritizing own work, working in an administration-based role, and meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of CAMIS and waiting list management (desirable)
