Job Description

Job Summary

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Service Manager to join our Clinical Support and Specialist Surgery Directorate. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality services and ensuring the effective management of our directorate.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and implement long-term service strategies and policies that align with the Trust's corporate objectives and national healthcare guidelines.

• Provide operational management support for all services within the directorate, working closely with the Clinical Director, group leaders, and other service managers.

• Manage designated budgets and develop business cases to ensure the financial stability and responsiveness of our services.

• Lead on substantial programmes of work to improve services across pathways of care or for specific care groups, and develop own work plan in line with divisional and Trust objectives.

• Deploy change management techniques to deliver service improvement and utilise research and audit findings to aid the development of new managerial guidelines and protocols.

• Ensure effective communication and engagement with other divisions within the Trust, promoting the interests of the Clinical Support and Specialist Surgery Directorate.

Requirements

• Proven experience in working in an NHS environment, with a track record of leadership, managing redesign, organisational change, service activity, and service reconfiguration.

• Experience of managing complex services, including exposure to solving a range of operational and strategic problems.

• Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team located on multiple sites.

• Highly developed analytical skills and the ability to deduce key points from highly complex data in order to make decisions.

Person Specification

• Level 6 - Degree with honours

• Proven experience of staff management and line management for administration posts and medical illustration department.

• Experience of managing budgets, business cases, and successful project management.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present reports for consideration at Divisional Board or equivalent.

• Knowledge of national political agenda, the external environment, including national and regional strategies and priorities.

• In-depth professional knowledge of performance management, service improvement, staff management, acquired through training and experience to Masters level.

Working Arrangements

• Participate in management on-call and weekend/bank holiday site management rota.

• Demonstrates the agreed set of values and accountable for own attitude and behaviour.
