Medical Director

Thorpewood Medical Group is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated General Medical Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical care to our patients and contributing to the overall success of our practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Medical Care Delivery: Provide exceptional medical care to our patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of various medical conditions.
- Service Provision: Ensure that all services are provided in accordance with the GMS contract and local/national guidelines.
- Prescribing: Adhere to local and national guidance when prescribing medication.
- Long-term Condition Management: Effectively manage long-term conditions, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.
- Administration: Process administrative tasks, including referrals, repeat prescription requests, and other associated tasks, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Triage and Duty Doctor Roles: Participate in telephone triage and duty doctor roles on a rotational basis.
- Clinical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, adhering to good practice, policy, and guidance.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the practice team, accepting an equal share of the workload.
- Quality Initiatives: Contribute to the implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
- Delegated Responsibility: Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF.
- Practice Meetings: Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
- Practice Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of the practice, including clinical governance and training.
- Appraisal and Revalidation: Ensure compliance with the appraisal process and prepare for revalidation.
- Self-Learning and Development: Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
- Medical Student Support: Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
- Practice Strategy: Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
- Practice Protocols: Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies.
- Culture of Continuous Improvement: Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, and promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to participate in practice audits, local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care, and the review of significant and near-miss events using a structured approach.
