About the Role

Athena Health Care Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Director of Staff Development and Infection Control. This role is a critical part of our team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of infection control and staff education in our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive infection control programs to prevent and control the spread of infections in our facilities.
  • Conduct regular training sessions and workshops for staff on infection control practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the staff development team to design and deliver educational programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of our staff.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with infection control regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation related to infection control practices and staff education.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to infection control and staff education.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on infection control practices and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to infection control and staff education.
Requirements
  • Must possess a minimum of a Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing, college or university.
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice nursing in this state and be CPR-certified.
  • Must possess training or current experience in wound care.
  • Certification in infection control and/or wound care is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a long-term care facility.
  • Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic techniques to include Standard Precautions.
  • Must have one (1) year of experience in staff education.
