Nursing Staff Educator/Infection Control Specialist

Athena Health Care Systems is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Director of Staff Development and Infection Control. This role is a critical part of our team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of infection control and staff education in our facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive infection control programs to prevent and control the spread of infections in our facilities.
- Conduct regular training sessions and workshops for staff on infection control practices, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with the staff development team to design and deliver educational programs that enhance the skills and knowledge of our staff.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with infection control regulations and standards.
- Develop and maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation related to infection control practices and staff education.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to infection control and staff education.
- Provide guidance and support to staff on infection control practices and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a comprehensive approach to infection control and staff education.
- Must possess a minimum of a Nursing Degree from an accredited school of nursing, college or university.
- Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice nursing in this state and be CPR-certified.
- Must possess training or current experience in wound care.
- Certification in infection control and/or wound care is preferred, but not necessary.
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a long-term care facility.
- Must have training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
- Must possess a working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious diseases, and aseptic techniques to include Standard Precautions.
- Must have one (1) year of experience in staff education.
