Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a part-time Child Protection Nursing Specialist within the Children's Team at Leeds Community Healthcare (LCH). The safeguarding team seeks a qualified nurse who is passionate and self-driven, with a strong commitment to enhancing outcomes for at-risk children and families.

The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, assertive, and compassionate individual with a curious mindset. The role involves working collaboratively within the LCH corporate safeguarding team, addressing all facets of child protection. The position will entail a mix of remote and office-based work. In the absence of the Lead Nurse, the individual in this band 6 role will also provide support to the Front Door Safeguarding Hub. Strong communication skills are essential to effectively integrate safeguarding principles into everyday professional practice.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Exhibit enthusiasm and a proactive attitude towards safeguarding initiatives.
  • Contribute positively to team dynamics, demonstrating respect and sensitivity in this demanding field.
  • Offer support, guidance, and expertise to frontline practitioners, facilitating training both internally and externally.
  • Assist LCH practitioners through Child Protection Supervision and engage in strategy discussions related to the Front Door Safeguarding Hub.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify trends, complete clinical audits, and escalate concerns to senior staff as necessary.
  • Represent LCH in multi-agency meetings and undertake broader responsibilities within the team, including involvement in the Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood (SUDIC) process.

Job Responsibilities

Purpose of the Role

The post holder will manage their own caseload within their area of expertise as an independent practitioner. This includes assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating patient-centered care programs at a specialist level, ensuring adherence to professional and regulatory standards.

The role demands a dynamic, assertive, and caring individual with a curious mindset, who will provide advice and expertise to LCH staff involved in safeguarding processes, including PREVENT issues, and participate in various internal and external professional meetings. In the absence of the Lead Nurse for the Front Door Safeguarding Hub, the post holder will engage in the strategy discussion process.

The individual will also be responsible for facilitating LCH safeguarding training and briefing sessions, ensuring compliance with the Intercollegiate Document 2019.

Clinical Responsibilities
