We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Urology team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality specialist nursing care to patients with urological conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist nursing care to patients with urological conditions, ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction and outcomes.
  • Support and advise patients and their families, providing education and guidance on urological conditions and treatments.
  • Act as a resource to other professionals, sharing knowledge and expertise to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Undertake nurse-led clinics in line with identified protocols and clinical guidance, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
Main Duties
  • Provide high-quality specialist nursing care to patients with urological conditions, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Support and advise patients and their families, providing education and guidance on urological conditions and treatments.
  • Act as a resource to other professionals, sharing knowledge and expertise to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Undertake nurse-led clinics in line with identified protocols and clinical guidance, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Liaise with medical teams to report any significant clinical changes, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Demonstrate specialist skills and knowledge through expert nursing practice, staying up-to-date with the latest research and developments in urological nursing.
  • Promote and maintain effective communication, working collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • Liaise with Clinical Lead and Team Leader on issues of service management and development, contributing to the growth and improvement of our Urology team.

Person Specification
  • Able to fulfill Occupational Health requirements for the post, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Willing to undergo training as necessary, staying up-to-date with the latest research and developments in urological nursing.
  • Knowledge of Urological nursing (BAUN), with significant post-registration experience at Band 5 or equivalent and experience within urology or a relevant speciality.
  • Audit and standard setting, with experience of managing self and a team.
  • Service development and/or change management, with a focus on improving patient care and outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (Level 1), Recognised teaching/assessing qualification.
  • Post-qualification in speciality, with a focus on urological nursing.
  • Extended/Supplementary prescribing, with a focus on urological conditions and treatments.
Skills and Behaviours
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own and others workload, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Capable of lateral thinking, with a focus on creative problem-solving and innovation.
