Our Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team at Exponent as a Statistical Scientist or Industrial Engineer. In this role, you will work collaboratively with our team to identify quality and reliability improvements in customer systems and products using statistical methods and domain expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in diverse projects involving exploratory data analysis, statistical inference, and predictive modeling to drive business growth and improvement.
  • Apply risk analysis methodologies to engineering, manufacturing, health-related, and environmental problems to ensure the quality and reliability of our clients' products and systems.
  • Provide support to internal and external clients in planning data collection, including framing the problem, experimental design, sample size calculations, and identifying appropriate populations and sampling strategies.
  • Measure and provide guidance on the quality and reliability of products, systems, and organizations to inform business decisions.
  • Assist pharmaceutical and biotech customers with product optimization, assay development, stability analyses, and manufacturing improvements to enhance their business outcomes.
  • Provide improvement recommendations, based on data and statistical models, to our industrial clients to drive business growth and improvement.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Statistics, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate statistical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience or capabilities in statistical data analysis, analysis of reliability and life data, experimental design, and/or quality control/improvement.
  • A minimum of two years' experience with one or more statistical software packages (SAS or R, and JMP or Minitab are a plus).
  • Programming skills (e.g., JMP Scripting Language, SQL, Visual Basic, R, Python).
  • Required proof of U.S. citizenship and the possession of, or ability to obtain, a U.S. public trust security clearance or higher, for our contracts with the United States Government.
