Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatrician to join our team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality care to our patients, particularly those with complex and chronic conditions.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in geriatric medicine, with experience in managing frail older adults and a passion for delivering excellent patient care. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to develop and implement effective care pathways, ensuring that our patients receive the best possible outcomes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex medical conditions
  • Develop and implement effective care pathways, working closely with our multidisciplinary team
  • Contribute to the development of our geriatric medicine service, including the design and implementation of new care models
  • Provide education and training to our staff, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver excellent patient care

Person Specification

  • Appropriate higher medical qualification (MRCP or overseas equivalent)
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR
  • 5 years clinical experience in Geriatrics and general acute medicine
  • Experience demonstrating potential ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based Consultant
  • Experience in stroke and thrombolysis
