About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geriatrician to join our team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services for older people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and participate in the delivery and development of services for older people, including front door frailty and elderly trauma and general surgical patients.
  • Provide input to elderly trauma and general surgical patients, and participate in geriatrician-led ward rounds on the medical admissions unit.
  • Contribute to the development of our services, including rapid access outpatient care in Frailty SDEC clinics, an acute stroke unit, and associated rehabilitation and outpatient stroke services.
  • Work closely with colleagues in our local community hospitals, providing inpatient care to community hospital patients and working at Dorset County Hospital.
Requirements
  • Appropriate higher medical qualification (MRCP or overseas equivalent).
  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or CESR or European Community Rights.
  • 5 years clinical experience in Geriatrics and general acute medicine.
  • Experience demonstrating potential ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based Consultant.
  • Experience in stroke and thrombolysis.
