Geriatrician Consultant

Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic geriatrician to contribute to a bespoke pathway for frail older people admitted to hospital. As part of our emergency floor redesign and rebuild, we are looking for a geriatrician with a passion for excellent care to join our diverse team of consultants, specialist doctors, nurse consultants, and speciality doctors.

Main Duties of the JobThe successful applicant will join a successful and enthusiastic team and will participate in the delivery and development of services for older people in a friendly district general hospital. The postholder will have a timetable tailored to individual skills and subspeciality expertise, likely to include work in front door frailty and providing input to elderly trauma and general surgical patients.
We provide daily geriatrician-led ward rounds on the medical admissions unit, rapid access outpatient care in Frailty SDEC clinics, a 46-bed inpatient ward, an acute stroke unit, and associated rehabilitation and outpatient stroke services, orthogeriatric and general surgical liaison service, Parkinson's disease service. We have close links with colleagues working in our local community hospitals, with some colleagues working across the two areas providing inpatient care to community hospital patients as well as working at DCH.
