Arrears Prevention and Debt Recovery

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as an Housing Officer - Arrears Prevention Specialist. This role is crucial in supporting the Income Collection function to maximise and sustain rental income and other debts.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to meet the needs of a varied customer base. They will also possess effective negotiation skills, managing business and customer requirements to a mutually agreeable solution.

This position offers a competitive salary of £25,587.44 per annum (£28,107.11 per annum after 12 months' successful performance) and benefits including 28 days holidays plus bank holidays and flexible working options.

  • Manage pre-court arrears using early intervention and prevention methods to minimise escalation.
  • Work collaboratively with Income Officers, Housing Services, and Tenancy Sustainment Services.
  • Manage proactive customer contact via digital and traditional methods.
  • Discuss cancelled/expired payment arrangements and promote digital payment methods.
  • Advise on Universal Credit and support residents to make rent payments.
  • Monitor timely receipt of payments for new tenancies and identify customer or tenancy support needs.
