Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced ES&H Professional to join our team permanently. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring that our project delivery teams operate in accordance with Amentum's and our clients' health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Project HSE Management Plans to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Plan, manage, monitor, and coordinate HSE activities during design, procurement, equipment installation, commissioning, pre-construction, construction, and demolition works.
  • Identify and mitigate health and safety risks to all stakeholders, including workers, clients, and the general public.
  • Liaise with clients, principal designers, and stakeholders to ensure effective management of HSE risks.
  • Prepare and implement written Construction/Demolition Phase Plans, regularly reviewing and revising as required to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure suitable welfare facilities are provided and maintained throughout the project.
  • Consult and engage with workers on health, safety, and welfare matters.
  • Ensure all workers receive site and project-specific inductions and necessary training.
  • Implement measures to prevent unauthorized access to work sites.
  • Liaise with clients, principal designers, and stakeholders to share relevant information on HSE planning, management, monitoring, and coordination.
  • Inspect and audit work locations, contracts, and the supply chain to ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
  • Actively promote improvements in attitudes and behaviors towards construction and HSE performance.
  • Conduct incident investigations and prepare reports detailing root causes, corrections, and corrective actions.
  • Utilize industry-standard incident reporting tools and client systems.
  • Assist in preparing risk assessments and method statements in conjunction with operational management and subcontractors.
  • Review and appraise risk assessments, method statements, and related safety control documentation.
  • Deliver HSE briefings and training presentations to project teams.
  • Lead HSE meetings as necessary.
  • Foster good collaborative relations with all stakeholders.
  • Liaise with management and enforcing authorities on HSE compliance issues and the notification of accidents, incidents, and dangerous occurrences.
  • Develop and implement HSE objectives and KPIs in line with program and project requirements.
  • Ensure program and project teams are kept up-to-date on relevant HSE legislation.
  • Maintain program and project HSE risk and compliance registers.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of Amentum's HSE policies, procedures, and instructions.

Requirements

  • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualifications.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or higher.
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries, preferably in the defense or nuclear sectors.
  • Trained and/or qualified in HSE auditing.
  • Good knowledge of waste management legal requirements relevant to construction and demolition.
  • Proven 5 years' experience in a highly regulated industry.
  • Construction site experience in a key role.
  • Experience preparing Construction Plans under CDM.
  • Experience of HSE management at the design stage and of supply chain activities.
  • Meets requirements for SC security clearance, including residence in the UK for at least the last 5 years.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience of auditing.

Candidates must be able to obtain and secure UK Security Clearance.
