Position Overview
The Financial Control Lead role offers an exceptional opportunity to blend technical proficiency with practical business application. This position is crucial for driving continuous improvement and maintaining regular engagement with senior stakeholders. It plays a vital role in advancing our Financial Controls Strategy and Framework, ensuring the organization is well-prepared for success, including the establishment of our Programme sponsorship model.

Key Responsibilities
  • As we transition into a new Asset Management Plan (AMP) period, this position is essential for refining our Financial Controls Strategy and Framework, facilitating the organization’s readiness for success.
  • This role is pivotal in supporting and holding our Delivery teams accountable, ensuring compliance with financial principles and controls.
  • Accountable for generating monthly financial and governance control reports, with ongoing enhancements in response to business changes and the development of the new AMP period.
  • Manage relationships across all facets of the Capital model; primary business partners include Engineering, Asset Management, Capital Delivery, and Operational Directorates, along with colleagues in Strategic Business Planning and Commercial.

Qualifications and Skills
  • A results-oriented mindset, complemented by strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Professional accounting qualification (CIMA / ACCA / ACA or equivalent).
  • Proficient analytical skills, particularly with Excel and SAP.
  • Experience in the utilities or water sector is advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Competitive salary ranging from £65,000 to £75,000 per annum, based on experience.
  • Annual Leave: 26 days of holiday per year, increasing to 30 with length of service (plus bank holidays).
