Cygnet Health Care is a leading provider of specialist mental health services. We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Cygnet Hospital Woking.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Psychiatrist to provide senior medical cover on Kahlo Ward, our 11 bed female mental health Acute service. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and oversee the care of all ward inpatients, ensuring high-quality care that meets GMC standards.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in adult psychiatry, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. A strong commitment to continued professional development is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric care to patients on Kahlo Ward, assessing referrals and undertaking mental state examinations
  • Take overall responsibility for patient treatment plans, working closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)
  • Undertake appropriate investigations, diagnosis, and treatment, participating in ward rounds and clinical audits
  • Lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management, and embed clinical governance
  • Supervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and managers hearings, attending hearings as required

What We're Looking For

We require a fully GMC-registered Consultant Psychiatrist, MBBS (or equivalent) qualified, registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12, and AC Status. Experience and knowledge in adult psychiatry, mental health diagnosis, and the Mental Health Act are essential. Strong communication and teamwork skills are also vital.
