Job DescriptionAs a Mental Health On Call Doctor, you will be responsible for ensuring that the ward is aware of contact arrangements and can make immediate contact in the event of an admission or clinical emergency. You will respond immediately to contact from the ward and be available to travel to the hospital as needed. Your duties will include assessing, physically examining, and initiating immediate management of every admission, maintaining high professional standards.
You will keep clinical records to a satisfactory standard, report clinically to the responsible clinician and Medical Director, and prescribe and review medication under the supervision of the relevant Consultant Psychiatrist. Effective communication with the multi-disciplinary team and nursing staff is essential, including morning handover meetings each working day.
Requirements- Experienced within a mental health setting
- Knowledgeable of mental health legislation & codes of practice
- An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgement & ability to manage risk
- A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
