Job Description

Private Family Finance Solicitor Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced solicitor to join our Private Family Finance team at BHP Law. As a Private Family Finance Solicitor, you will handle a varied caseload of complex and high-value financial matters arising from divorce and separation, including (but not limited to) property, pensions, businesses, trusts, and international assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise and represent clients on all aspects of private family finance law, including financial settlements, spousal maintenance, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, cohabitation disputes, and financial provision for children.
  • Conduct client meetings, negotiations, and court hearings as required.
  • Draft and review legal documents, such as statements of case, consent orders, financial disclosure documents, and correspondence.
  • Liaise with other professionals, such as barristers, accountants, valuers, and experts, to obtain and present evidence and opinions.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments and best practices in private family finance law.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all client matters and billings.
  • Mentor and supervise junior members of staff, providing guidance and support to help them develop their skills and knowledge in the field.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in private family finance law.
  • Be a member of Resolution (Accreditation will be desirable but not necessary).
  • A proven track record of handling complex and mid to high-value financial cases, with excellent technical and analytical skills.
  • A client-focused approach, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and deliver high-quality service.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills, both written and oral, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong organisational abilities and a demonstrated ability to manage a full caseload.
  • A collaborative and supportive attitude, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
