Young People Support Specialist

About the Role
As a key member of the Depaul UK team, you will play a vital role in delivering the Youth Hub, an innovative pan-London accommodation service for young people (aged 18-24) who have slept rough or are at risk of doing so. Your primary focus will be on reducing the number of young people sleeping rough across London and quickly moving individuals into appropriate longer-term accommodation.
Working under the direction, guidance, and support of a manager, you will be responsible for a caseload of clients and share responsibility for the safety and well-being of all clients, volunteers, and staff in the service. This role is composed of 7.5 hour shifts on weekends, with postholders required to attend mandatory training on weekdays and complete online training at a time of their choosing, for which they will be paid.
Key Responsibilities
- You will ensure the safety and well-being of clients in the service, utilizing safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable.
- You will carry a caseload of clients for whom you will be the named key worker and take joint responsibility with your team members for the well-being and day-to-day support of all clients in the service.
- You will lead on risk and needs assessments and support planning for your key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessments of other clients in the service.
- You will deliver one-to-one and group support opportunities within the accommodation and in the local community aimed at increasing resilience in the clients we work with.
About You
We are looking for an experienced individual who has a proven track record in managing a service in a support setting with a focus on continuous improvement in working with young people with complex mental health needs. You will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Experience working with the client group.
- An understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance use.
- A knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Support Planning.
- Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures.
