Job Overview

Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Clinical Cytologist/Lead Diagnostic Cytology to join our team. As a senior member of the management team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff within the department, including recruitment, allocation of workload, and assessment of performance.

Responsibilities and Requirements

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires strong leadership and communication skills. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of clinical biomedical scientists in non-gynaecological cytology
  • Managing workload and allocating tasks efficiently
  • Monitoring and improving performance, addressing any issues that may arise
  • Attending FNA and EBUS clinics to provide sample adequacy services

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • IBMS Diploma of Expert Practice in Non Gynaecological Cytology
  • IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma in Cytopathology
  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist specializing in Cytology
  • MSc in Cell Path, Cytology or Biomedical Science or equivalent skills/IBMS qualification (Higher Specialist Diploma)
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously, seeking advice from consultants when needed
