Barnardo's Scotland Fostering Edinburgh is seeking a skilled Supervising Social Worker to join their team on a Full Time (37 hours) permanent basis. Located in Edinburgh, this role offers a unique blend of office work and Scotland-wide travel.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team consisting of supervising social workers, children's workers, therapists, education liaison workers, managers, and administrative staff. Their primary responsibility will be to provide support and advice to foster carers, ensuring the welfare of looked-after children and young people remains paramount.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with colleagues to deliver comprehensive support and guidance to foster carers.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of child-centered practice throughout all aspects of the service.
  • Representing the voices of children, young people, carers, and adopters through participation and consultation activities.
  • Developing and delivering training to Barnardo's cohort of foster carers and adopters, adhering to relevant standards.
  • Displaying flexibility to respond to the evolving needs of young people, carers, and colleagues.

To excel in this role, ideal candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in fostering assessments or similar. A solid understanding of relevant legislation and national standards is also essential. Relevant qualifications such as DipSW, CSS, or CQSW, along with valid SSSC registration, are required.
