Job Description: Child Welfare Advocate

At Barnardo's Scotland Fostering Edinburgh, we are seeking a highly skilled Child Welfare Advocate to join our team. As a Child Welfare Advocate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being and safety of looked-after children and young people in our care.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with foster carers, birth families, and other stakeholders. You will work collaboratively with our team to provide support and guidance to foster carers, promoting the best interests of the child.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. To assess and monitor the needs of looked-after children and young people, developing personalized plans to meet their physical, emotional, and educational needs.
  2. To provide ongoing support and guidance to foster carers, helping them to make informed decisions about the child's care and development.
  3. To facilitate effective communication between foster carers, birth families, and other professionals involved in the child's life.
  4. To contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote the welfare and safety of looked-after children and young people.

Salary: £35,713-£37,289 per annum

Ideal Candidate's Must Haves:

  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience of working with vulnerable children and families.
  • Hold a relevant social work qualification such as DipSW, CSS, CQSW.
  • Be validly registered with SSSC.
  • Have prior post-qualifying experience in childcare settings and/or pre-qualifying work experience in family placement.
  • Hold a full UK driving license with access to your own vehicle.
