About the Role

The National Grid is at the heart of the UK's energy system, working towards a cleaner, greener Britain. As an Engineering Delivery Manager, you will lead the engineering delivery for various programmes in the Engineering Solutions area, based in Warwick with hybrid working options.

About Us

We are Great Britain's electricity system operator, using our expertise to balance electricity supply and demand. Our goal is to keep the electricity flowing directly to where it's needed, second by second. As we transition to becoming the National Energy System Operator, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working to create an organisation that meets the energy system's needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead high-performing engineering teams to deliver engineering solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Own the engineering delivery strategy and resource profile to ensure project delivery.
  • Manage interfaces with the overall delivery strategy for the wider programme.
  • Work with the Senior Delivery Manager to define the organisation and work breakdown required to deliver to customer needs.
  • Define the engineering team's work packages, including resources, budgets, risks, and assumptions.
  • Plan and prioritise activities to deliver the solution to the contract schedule, costs, and quality.
  • Manage the engineering team's activities, proactively addressing issues, opportunities, and risks.
  • Work with the Scrum Master to report on engineering efficiency for the project.
  • Act as the People Manager for the engineering team and provide feedback into people manager reviews.

About You

We're looking for someone with an engineering degree and 5+ years of management experience. You should have proven experience as a technical leader, ideally in Azure, and be confident in writing and reading code. Experience in mentoring and coaching engineers, developing engineering skills, and implementing best practices is also essential. You should be passionate about your work and have a high interest in keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise.

What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £64,000 – 90,000, dependent on experience and capability. You will also receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance, 28 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
