About the Role

The National Energy System Operator is seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Manager to lead the engineering delivery for a range of programmes in the Engineering Solutions area. As part of our team, you will be shaping the way we use and consume energy for generations to come.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and lead high-performing, multi-discipline engineering teams to generate engineering solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Ownership of the engineering delivery strategy and resource profile based on engineering estimates to ensure delivery of the project.
  • Manage interfaces with the overall delivery strategy for the wider programme.
  • Work with the Senior Delivery Manager to define the organisation and work breakdown required to deliver to customer needs.
  • Define the engineering team's work packages in terms of resources required, budgets assigned to each task, risks, and assumptions on these and the timescales to deliver within.
  • Plan and prioritise activities required to deliver the solution to the contract schedule, costs, and quality.
  • Day-to-day management of the engineering team's activities, ensuring proactive management of issues, opportunities, and risks.
  • Work with the Scrum Master to report on engineering efficiency for the project.
  • Act as the People Manager for the engineering team on the project and provide feedback into the people manager reviews with the functional discipline leads.

About You

We're looking for someone with an engineering degree and 5+ years of management experience. You should have proven experience as a technical leader, ideally within Azure, and be confident in writing and reading code. Experience mentoring and coaching engineers, developing engineering skills in line with business needs, and implementing best practices and ways of working across a team is also essential.

What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £64,000 - £90,000, dependent on experience and capability. You will also receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance, 28 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
