About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join National Grid as an Engineering Delivery Manager, leading the engineering delivery for Connections Reform. As a key member of our Digital, Data and Technology team, you will be responsible for developing and leading high-performing engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet our customers' needs.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and lead high-performing engineering teams to generate engineering solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Own the engineering delivery strategy and resource profile based on engineering estimates to ensure project delivery.
  • Manage interfaces with the overall delivery strategy for the wider programme.
  • Work with the Senior Delivery Manager to define the organisation and work breakdown required to deliver to customer needs.
  • Define the engineering team's work packages in terms of resources required, budgets assigned to each task, risks, and assumptions on these and the timescales to deliver within.
  • Plan and prioritise activities required to deliver the solution to the contract schedule, costs, and quality.
  • Day-to-day management of the engineering team's activities, ensuring proactive management of issues, opportunities, and risks.
  • Work with the Scrum Master to report on engineering efficiency for the project.
  • Act as the People Manager for the engineering team on the project and provide feedback into the people manager reviews with the functional discipline leads.

About You

We are looking for an experienced engineering professional with a strong track record of technical leadership. The ideal candidate will have:

An engineering degree and 5+ years of management experience.Proven experience as a technical leader, ideally within a Salesforce Engineering environment.Confidence in writing and reading code.Experience mentoring and coaching engineers.Experience developing Salesforce engineering skills in line with business needs.Experience implementing best practices and ways of working across a team.Demonstrable experience of working in Agile environments and an Agile culture and ethos.A deep understanding of how to translate product and business goals into technology solutions.A passion for what you do and a high interest in keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise.Excellent communication skills and a love of sharing knowledge with others, helping them grow.
