Becoming the National Energy System Operator
In Summer 2024, National Grid will transition to becoming the National Energy System Operator (NESO), an independent body responsible for planning Great Britain's electricity and gas networks and operating the electricity system. As NESO, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working to create an organisation that meets the energy system and its users' needs.
Key Accountabilities
- Developing and leading high-performing, multi-discipline engineering teams to generate engineering solutions that meet customer needs.
- Ownership of the engineering delivery strategy and resource profile based on engineering estimates to ensure delivery of the project.
- Managing interfaces with the overall delivery strategy for the wider programme.
- Working with the Senior Delivery Manager to define the organisation and work breakdown required to deliver to customer needs.
- Defining the engineering team's work packages in terms of resources required, budgets assigned to each task, risks, and assumptions on these and the timescales to deliver within.
- Planning and prioritisation of activities required to deliver the solution to the contract schedule, costs, and quality.
- Day-to-day management of the engineering team's activities, ensuring proactive management of issues, opportunities, and risks.
- Working with Scrum Master to reporting of the engineering efficiency for the project.
- Acting as the People Manager for the engineering team on the project and providing feedback into the people manager reviews with the functional discipline leads.
About You
We are looking for an experienced engineering professional with a proven track record in technical leadership, ideally within a Salesforce Engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have:
An engineering degree and 5+ years of management experience.Proven experience as a technical leader, ideally within a Salesforce Engineering environment.Confidence in writing and reading code.Experience mentoring and coaching engineers.Experience in developing Salesforce engineering skills in line with business needs.Experience in implementing best practice and ways of working across a team.Demonstrable experience of working in Agile environments and an Agile culture and ethos.A deep understanding of how to translate product and business goals into technology solutions.A passion for what you do and a high interest in keeping up with current best practices in your areas of expertise.Great influencing and communication skills, with a love of sharing knowledge with others and helping them grow.What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £64,000 – 90,000 – dependent on experience and capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance, 28 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
