About the Role
The National Energy System Operator is seeking an experienced Engineering Delivery Manager to lead the engineering delivery for a range of programmes in the Engineering Solutions area. As a key member of our Digital, Data and Technology team, you will be responsible for developing and leading high-performing engineering teams to generate engineering solutions that meet customer needs.

We are Great Britain's electricity system operator, using our outstanding engineering and commercial expertise to balance electricity supply and demand. As we transition to becoming the National Energy System Operator, we will build on our existing roles, capabilities, and ways of working to create an organisation that meets the needs of the energy system and its users.
Key Accountabilities
- Develop and lead high-performing engineering teams to generate engineering solutions that meet customer needs.
- Own the engineering delivery strategy and resource profile based on engineering estimates to ensure delivery of projects.
- Manage interfaces with overall delivery strategy for wider programmes.
- Work with Senior Delivery Manager to define organisation and work breakdown required to deliver to customer needs.
- Define engineering team's work packages in terms of resources required, budgets assigned to each task, risks and assumptions on these and timescales to deliver within.
- Plan and prioritise activities required to deliver solution to contract schedule, costs and quality.
- Day-to-day management of engineering team's activities ensuring proactive management of issues, opportunities and risks.
- Work with Scrum Master to report engineering efficiency for project.
- Act as People Manager for engineering team on project and provide feedback into people manager reviews with functional discipline leads.
About You
We are looking for someone with an engineering degree and 5+ years management experience. You should have proven experience as a technical leader, ideally within Azure, and be confident in writing and reading code. You should also have experience mentoring and coaching engineers, developing engineering skills in line with business needs, and implementing best practice and ways of working across a team.
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £64,000 - £90,000, dependent on experience and capability. You will also receive a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance, 28 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
