About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Carpenter/Building Specialist to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Estates and Facilities Management Directorate, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, ensuring a safe and compliant environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, including carpentry, joinery, and other related tasks.
  • Work with the Estates Team to develop and implement maintenance plans, ensuring compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and address maintenance needs, ensuring a proactive approach to facility management.
  • Supervise and train maintenance assistants and contractors, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their tasks effectively.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of safe systems of work, ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Work closely with the Estates Helpdesk to respond to emergency works and service complaints, ensuring a prompt and effective response to maintenance needs.
  • Act as a competent person and authorized person for specific systems and equipment, ensuring that maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications in construction, maintenance, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in maintenance carpentry and building trades, with a strong understanding of HTM's, HBN's, and Estates specific legislation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, with a flexible approach to working hours.
  • Full current driving license and ability to travel to various sites within the Trust.
