About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Carpenter/Building Specialist to join our team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Estates and Facilities Management Directorate, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities and providing a safe and healthy environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out a range of maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, joinery, and other building-related activities.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to prioritize and manage workload, ensuring that tasks are completed to a high standard and within agreed deadlines.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of maintenance plans and schedules, ensuring that our facilities are well-maintained and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Supervise and train junior staff members, providing guidance and support to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge required to perform their duties effectively.
  • Liaise with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that maintenance activities are coordinated and that any issues or concerns are addressed promptly.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring that our facilities are safe and compliant with relevant regulations.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualifications and experience in carpentry, joinery, or a related trade.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of physical fitness and ability to lift heavy loads, with support of lifting equipment where necessary.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, with a strong sense of safety awareness.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical sense.
