About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Driver Trainer to join our award-winning transport team in Manchester. As a Driver Trainer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of driver training and assessment, while promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and excellence within our organization.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and Train Drivers: Provide guidance and support to drivers undergoing training or assessment, ensuring they meet the required standards and company procedures.
  • Coach and Retrain Staff: Identify areas for improvement and provide coaching to staff members who have contravened company procedures or breached compliance and health & safety regulations.
  • Monitor and Improve Performance: Observe and record delivery team performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure Compliance: Verify drivers' licenses, maintain accurate records, and ensure adherence to company procedures and industry regulations.
  • Stay Up-to-Date: Maintain knowledge of workplace legislation, compliance, and industry changes to become a departmental expert.
  • Deliver Inductions and Assessments: Conduct inductions for new drivers and annual driving assessments for all drivers, ensuring they meet the required standards.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Driver Trainer with a valid Cat C+E license, full UK driving license, and ability to deliver driver CPC. You should have a flexible approach to work, including occasional overnight stays and visits to other sites. Essential skills and knowledge include:

  • Valid Cat C+E License: With no more than 6 penalty points.
  • Full UK Driving License: Required for the role.
  • Driver CPC Delivery: Ability to deliver driver CPC training.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Good understanding of compliance regulations.
  • Flexible Approach: Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional overnight stays and visits to other sites.

Desired skills and knowledge include:

  • Knowledge of Routes and Geography: Familiarity with routes and geography.
  • Supervision or Leadership Experience: Previous experience in supervision or leadership roles.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Each case will be assessed individually, taking into account the nature of the offence and its relevance to the role applied for.
