About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and empathetic individual to join our team as a Peer Supporter. As a Peer Supporter, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are experiencing mental distress, drawing on your own experiences to provide guidance and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support sessions to help individuals identify their strengths, set goals, and develop action plans.
  • Facilitate group peer support sessions to promote a sense of community and connection among service users.
  • Develop and lead peer support groups and self-management groups to empower individuals to take control of their mental health.
  • Signpost and support individuals to access local services and activities that can help them manage their mental health.
  • Provide emotional and practical support to individuals as they prepare to move on from using our services.
  • Support less experienced peer supporters in their role, promoting a culture of peer support and leadership.
Requirements
  • Personal experience of mental distress and/or using mental health services, past or present.
  • Ability to share personal experiences of mental distress and self-management strategies as/when appropriate.
  • Passion for empowering individuals experiencing mental distress, peer support, and service user leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to problem-solve, be proactive, and resourceful when supporting individuals.
