Job Description

This Band 7/8a post offers a unique opportunity to join our experienced perinatal psychology team. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals to provide individual, group, and systemic support to women/birthing people and their families accessing our services. Key responsibilities include formalizing referral pathways, assessment, treatment protocols, attending ward and community MDT meetings, triaging referrals, assessing, signposting to other services, and liaising with midwives, obstetricians, primary, secondary, and third sector care providers.

Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting the continued development of psychologically informed trauma-focused care within the wider perinatal team and maternity services. This role also encompasses supervision/training, utilizing research skills for audits, evaluations, and service development.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Essential Qualifications:
    • Doctorate in clinical psychology
    • Good undergraduate degree (or above)
  • Professional Registration:
    • Registered with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
    • Eligible for registration with British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Other Essential Criteria:
    • Ability to meet travel requirements of the job
  • Skills and Experience:
    • Skills developed through formal training in supervision of other psychologists (Band 8a)
    • Assessment and therapeutic skills relevant to complex and severe mental health presentations
    • Demonstrates further specialist training/experience through having received substantial supervision while working as a clinical psychologist
    • Specialist knowledge of current legislation and guidance for clinical practice and professional management in relation to perinatal/materal mental health
  • Desirable Skills and Experience:
    • Experience of working with attachment trauma, birth trauma, and loss
    • Trained in EMDR, CFT, trauma-focused CBT
    • Experience of working in perinatal services
    • Experience of working within inpatient settings
