About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our Perinatal Psychology Team at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide specialist psychological services to women and their families during the perinatal period, including those experiencing mental health difficulties during pregnancy, the postnatal period, or following loss.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment to women and their families, incorporating a systemic approach and working with partners and the wider family.
  2. Contribute to the development of psychologically informed trauma-focused care within the team and maternity services, including the audit and evaluation of referral pathways and treatment outcomes.
  3. Work collaboratively with an MDT to provide community and inpatient-based specialist clinical psychology services, including formalizing referral pathways, outcome measures, assessment, and treatment protocols.
  4. Support the development of psychological and trauma-informed services around maternal mental health and perinatal loss, including gap analysis in treatment provision.
  5. Liaise with midwives, obstetricians, primary, secondary, and third sector care providers to ensure seamless care for women and their families.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Eligible for registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS)
  • Ability to meet the travel requirements of the job
  • Excellent assessment and therapeutic skills, with experience of working with complex and severe mental health presentations
  • Specialist knowledge of current legislation and guidance for clinical practice and professional management in relation to perinatal/maternal mental health

Desirable

  • Experience of working with attachment trauma, birth trauma, and loss
  • Trained in EMDR, CFT, trauma-focused CBT
  • Experience of working in perinatal services
  • Experience of working within inpatient settings
