Care Navigator Dispensary Assistant

We are seeking a Care Co-ordinator/DISPENSING ASSISTANT to join our team in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The successful candidate will have a combination of dispensing knowledge and excellent patient-centric care skills. Primary care knowledge is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient support services responding efficiently politely and helpfully at all times.
  • Meet and greet patients their families or representatives and visitors ensuring they receive the best possible service.

Care Co-ordinator Role:

  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to obtain medical records test results and other patient information.
  • Prepare medical documentation for clinical staff ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

Dispensary Assistant Role:

  • Carry out routine dispensing activities in accordance with prescriptions by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complying with legal requirements.
  • Audit Patient Medication Records (PMR) to ensure patient safety and comply with data protection requirements.

The estimated salary for this role is £26,000 - £34,000 per annum depending on experience.

About Our Practice

Martlesham Heath Surgery is a small but close-knit practice located in Martlesham serving affluent areas on the outskirts of Ipswich.

We use SystmOne clinical system and are connected with the Wolsey PCN a collaboration between select GP practices in the local area.

Job Requirements

Our Care Co-ordinators provide professional respectful and efficient call handling and face-to-face services helping patients access various support options.

  • Answer phone calls manage inquiries and triage calls to relevant personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection regulations.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers to obtain medical records test results and other patient information.
  • Prepare medical documentation for clinical staff ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support the practice in managing medical supplies ordering stock and maintaining clinical rooms.
  • Update and maintain patient information on NHS databases and/or practice management systems.
  • Generate reports including patient activity appointment statistics and performance metrics.
  • Manage payments for dispensed prescriptions and ensure compliance with financial procedures.

Dispensary Assistant:

As a Dispensary Assistant you will project a positive image to dispensary patients and visitors dealing with queries professionally courteously and efficiently.

  • Collect prescription charges and check patient exemption statements.
  • Operate efficient stock control ensuring continuity of supply and minimising wastage.
  • Clean work surfaces and shelving regularly and maintain dispensary equipment.

Successful applicants will access additional training opportunities through our local Training Hub ICB or other providers.

Qualifications

NVQ level 2 in Dispensing or equivalent qualification is required.
