About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Waste Management Specialist to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our decommissioning and radioactive waste management projects, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and compliant removal of waste from our client sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on waste segregation, packaging, labeling, and storage.
  • Coordinate multiple resources to facilitate waste disposal and ensure compliance with site procedures and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain waste stream characterization documents and isotopic fingerprints.
  • Advise on radioactive and non-radioactive disposal routes and ensure all waste is removed from plant/area compliantly.
  • Liaise with Waste Advisors for non-routine wastes, including non-hazardous and hazardous waste.
  • Provide information for Waste Clearance Forms and Waste Routing Reports.
  • Act promptly on non-compliance issues and participate in investigations as required.
  • Represent the team at stakeholder meetings and provide information on waste forecasts.
  • Support other team members, sharing knowledge and experience.
  • Responsible for the safe delivery of specified site-based work packages and management of project wastes in line with Waste Management Plans.
  • Achieve SQEP status.

Requirements

  • Nuclear Decommissioning/Waste Management experience.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and flexible approach, with willingness to travel to client sites as required.
  • IOSH Working Safely certification.
  • Good understanding of the waste hierarchy and awareness of waste routing and acceptance criteria/conditions for acceptance.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build and develop relationships internally and externally.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with customers and suppliers.
