About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head Office Accountant to lead our accounting function at Charterhouse. This role is crucial for ensuring financial integrity and providing strategic insight into our financial performance.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the group reporting team, responsible for delivering month-end reporting to the Board and external investors with speed and accuracy. They will also be responsible for reporting on all central cost departments and delivering relevant insights, as well as assisting with other reporting requirements such as audit, accounts preparation, and taxation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of month-end reporting across central cost departments
  • Assist with the preparation of month-end reporting packs for the Board, external investors, and debt providers
  • Own and manage the Group payroll process and reporting
  • Assist with the annual audit and accounts preparation process
  • Implement systems and controls improvements across the Group
  • Own and manage the Group VAT reporting and assist with wider Group tax compliance
  • Assist with the formulation of budget and forecast for central cost departments
  • Be the internal lead for all technical accounting queries
  • Provide weekly cash flow forecasting
Requirements
  • Qualified accountant with excellent technical accounting knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver key messages to senior leaders and drive action to improve financial results
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Resilient, proactive, and self-motivated with a 'can-do' attitude and a history of achievement
  • Well-organized with the ability to deal with multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and tackle complex operational initiatives collaboratively
  • High degree of pride in their work with a focus on high-quality outputs and easy-to-use analysis
  • Ability to simplify and clarify complex problems and clearly identify what is critical
