Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust as a Plastic Surgery and Burns Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing paediatric burns and plastics trauma clinics, assessing patients referred via the TRIPS system, and coordinating patients needing to be booked for surgery.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a paediatric setting and exposure in looking after patients with plastic surgery and burns related injuries. Excellent communication skills are essential to liaise and work alongside patients and a varied multi-professional team.

Main Duties of the Job

  • Manage paediatric burns and plastics trauma clinics 7 days a week as part of the MDT
  • Assess paediatric patients referred via the TRIPS system and prioritise patients being seen in hospital for their burn injury
  • Coordinate paediatric burns and plastics trauma patients needing to be booked for surgery through the Stoke Mandeville Trauma list
  • Contribute to/coordinate weekend clinics for Paediatric Burns and Plastics Trauma

Person Specification

Education

Essential Criteria

  • Nursing Degree certificate/RGN/NMC pin
  • Maths/English GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications
  • Registered Paediatric Nurse to degree level or equivalent
  • Registered adult (burns) nurse with paediatric competencies

Desirable Criteria

  • Further education in burns/plastic surgery evidence

  • Ability to use a computer
  • Evidence of clear written English
  • Recent experience within the Plastic Surgery and burns speciality field
  • Experience within theatre
  • Wide clinical experience as a nurse
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
