Job Overview

The Reactive Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating urgent repairs, managing planned maintenance, and overseeing budgets to ensure that highway assets are well-maintained and meet operational standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Urgent Repairs Coordination: Identify critical repair needs and coordinate with contractors to fix potholes, damaged signage, guardrails, and other structural road issues promptly.
  • Planned Maintenance Management: Liaise with contractors and maintenance crews to manage all aspects of planned maintenance, ensuring effective use of resources and meeting deadlines.
  • Budget Oversight: Monitor the planned maintenance budget and report back to the traffic management team, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently.
  • Asset Monitoring: Regularly inspect highway assets to promote preventative maintenance planning and reactive measures, extending their longevity.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication skills and quick decision-making abilities to coordinate multiple contractors effectively.
  • Highways Experience: Possess previous experience as a Reactive Supervisor in the highways sector.
  • Technical Knowledge: Hold strong technical knowledge of road infrastructure, maintenance procedures, and relevant regulations to diagnose problems and solutions.
  • UK Driver's Licence: Be in possession of a valid UK driver's licence.
  • Certification (Desired): Have SSSTS or SMSTS certification, although not mandatory.
Estimated Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum
