Clinical Support Worker Higher Level Theatre Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Support Worker Higher Level to join our theatre team at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have suitable theatre experience or be willing to learn the role of a Clinical Support Worker Higher Level.
The theatre suite at James Cook University Hospital has 19 theatres in the main operating department, with a 10-bed recovery suite. The successful candidate will work within the Head & Neck, Plastics portfolio, assisting and caring for patients undergoing surgery, and will have the opportunity to work on emergency theatre lists covering more specialties.
Main Duties of the Job
The Clinical Support Worker Higher Level will be responsible for setting up and ensuring theatre is ready for the day, setting up for elective procedures, checking equipment, and ensuring theatre is prepared for the patient. During a procedure, the scrub practitioner and surgeons will be scrubbed, and therefore, the Clinical Support Worker Higher Level will rely on their knowledge and skills to circulate the theatre alongside a theatre practitioner.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills.
- Timekeeping, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems.
- Experience/knowledge of theatre environment.
Qualification
- Numeracy and Literacy Level 2.
- Level 3 vocational qualification or short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3.
- Care certificate.
